Malawi assumes Chairmanship of SADC Standing Committee of Senior Officials
Dr. Luckie Sikwese, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malawi assumed the Chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Standing Committee of Senior Officials, taking over from Ambassador Carlos Da Costa, Director for Regional and Continental Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Mozambique.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Sikwese said he was glad for the opportunity accorded to Malawi, and said Malawi will endeavour to facilitate achievement of the SADC Agenda. He further went on to state, that ''SADC is making great strides in many areas of regional economic and integration under the frameworks of Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP), 2020-2030, and SADC's Vision 20250 that aims at having a peaceful, inclusive, competitive, middle to high income industrialised region, where all citizens enjoy sustainable economic well-being, justice, and freedom by 2050''.
